Gourmet Delight 'Maid-san wa Taberu dake' Unveils Key Cast Additions and Exclusive Teaser Ahead of 2026 Premiere

The highly anticipated television anime adaptation of Susumu Maeya’s acclaimed gourmet slice-of-life manga, Maid-san wa Taberu dake (known internationally as The Food Diary of Miss Maid), is moving forward in production. On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the official project website released a significant update, introducing key supporting cast members and debuting a captivating new teaser promotional video. This confirms the series as a highly anticipated title for the 2026 anime season.

Key Voice Talent Joins the Ensemble

Two veteran voice actors are joining the vocal ensemble, adding formidable talent to the production. Chihiro Sunou, recognized for her distinctive work in Girls Band Cry, has been cast to voice the character Ricotta Fresca. Joining her is Maki Kawase, famed for her dynamic performance in Zombieland Saga, who will lend her voice to Nana Komatsu.

These stellar additions will support the previously confirmed lead, Kana Ichinose, who takes on the role of protagonist Suzume Tachibana. Suzume is an English-style maid whose delightful adventures center around exploring the intricacies of Japanese cuisine.

Experienced Creative Team Confirmed

Behind the camera, an experienced creative lineup is ensuring a faithful yet visually stunning adaptation. Guiding the animation is Director Ryousuke Senbo, known for his directorial contributions to Yo-kai Watch. Senbo helms the project across two skilled production houses: EMT Squared and Magic Bus.

Crafting the overarching narrative structure are series composition specialists Natsuko Takahashi (Hoshikuzu Telepath) and Saeka Fujimoto (Alice or Alice). Visually, the characters are brought to life by Character Designer Chiaki Abe, who previously showcased their talents as an animation director for the critically praised Undead Girl Murder Farce. Setting the tone for Suzume’s culinary journey is composer Katsutoshi Kitagawa of ROUND TABLE, whose musical prowess was recently featured in Buddy Daddies.

Manga Background and International Release

The source material, penned and illustrated by Susumu Maeya, has already established a strong following since its launch in December 2019 on Kodansha's Comic Days digital platform. The manga’s quality was formally recognized when it secured a nomination for the 2022 Next Manga Award in the competitive web manga category.

Kodansha continues to publish the compiled volumes in Japan, with the fourth volume hitting shelves in March 2022. Global fans are also following Suzume’s story, as Kodansha USA has licensed the digital English release, which began in October 2022 and culminated in the release of the fourth English volume in September 2024. The newly released teaser PV offers fans an essential first look at the anime’s visual style, reinforcing the production team’s commitment to capturing the original manga's unique blend of charm, humor, and gastronomic appreciation.
