Distributor REMOW officially confirmed that the TOUGEN ANKI anime will receive a sequel immediately following the conclusion of the first season's 24th episode. The announcement was accompanied by the release of a new visual and a teaser trailer that specifically focused on the character Hayate Todoroki.

The initial 24-episode run of the series began airing on July 11th. Global streaming was handled by Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Prime Video, alongside Bilibili and iQIYI for coverage across Asia and Latin America. The first season adapted the manga's Nerima Arc.

Studio Hibari handled the production, with Ato Nonaka directing and Hiroyuki Hashimoto assisting. Yukie Sugawara was responsible for the scripts, and Ryoko Amisaki provided the character designs. PONY CANYON managed the music composition, which was handled by KOHTA YAMAMOTO.

The key cast featured Kazuki Ura as Shiki Ichinose and Hiroshi Kamiya as Naito Mudano. Additional voice talent included Koutaro Nishiyama, Aimi, Kaito Miura, and Natsuki Hanae.

The opening themes for the first season were provided by THE ORAL CIGARETTES and CHOGAKUSE, while the ending themes were performed by BAND-MAID and Elli.

The source material, created by Yura Urushibara, launched in Weekly Shonen Champion in 2020. The manga has surpassed four million copies in circulation. Akita Shoten publishes the volumes in Japan, and Yen Press is set to handle the English release starting in 2024.

The story centers on Shiki Ichinose, who discovers his Oni heritage and is forced to fight against Momotaro hunters. In related media, a short companion series, Onimomomomo, also aired weekly, and stage plays ran in Tokyo and Osaka in 2024, with a follow-up scheduled for January 2025.

While a release date for the sequel remains unannounced at the time of reporting, streaming partners have already been confirmed.
