Compile Heart has released the first trailer for Villion:Code, the new school RPG from Kouji Okada, co-creator of Shin Megami Tensei and Persona. The game is set for a June 25 launch in Japan across PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.
The story is set in a near-future academy city where humanity is teetering on the edge of extinction due to monstrous GEM attacks. When a mysterious bubble seals the entire city, players are trapped inside with their companions, forced to fight through the chaos while trying to figure out what caused this anomaly.
Combat mixes fast-paced real-time action with necessary tactical decisions. Players can utilize Genome Arms for maneuvers like wall slides and raid attacks from above. Parrying enemy strikes is key to quickly countering tough opponents.
Famitsu had previously confirmed the game features procedurally generated dungeons. These dungeons are located within a university situated on an island in Tokyo Bay, which has been overrun by mutated students and faculty.

Okada himself is handling the planning production duties for the project. Tadashi Satomi, known for writing early Persona titles and The Caligula Effect, is in charge of the scenario. Sound design is being handled by Tsukasa Masuko, bringing his experience from Shin Megami Tensei and Caligula.
Character designs are credited to Ilya Kuvshinov, who also worked on Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 and Death Stranding. FRAM is performing both the opening track, "Rebirth Code," and the ending song, "Echoes of Tomorrow." Okada called this project his "ultimate message to the next generation."
