Isekai Fantasy 'Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru' Unveils Star-Studded Cast for 2025 Light Anime Debut

Anticipation is building for the 'light anime' adaptation of the beloved isekai fantasy series, Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru. We are thrilled to announce that powerhouse talents Kaede Hondo and Takeo Otsuka will lend their voices to the main characters. Hondo will portray the resourceful protagonist, Kaede, while Otsuka will embody the enigmatic Asuru. This adaptation marks a significant moment for fans, promising a fresh visual experience through the innovative 'light anime' format.

This production is spearheaded by AnimationID, a studio renowned for pioneering the 'light anime' approach. This method leverages simplified animation techniques to deliver captivating narratives efficiently in both time and cost. Guiding the creative vision is director Mikiko Furukawa, celebrated for her work on Moriarty's Perfect Crime. The animation itself is a collaborative effort between IMAGICA Infos and Imageworks Studio, with additional animation assistance from Studio KAIBA. The auditory landscape will be meticulously crafted by sound director Yūichi Imaizumi, with an enchanting score composed by bermei.inazawa, all overseen by production supervisor Kazuya Takahashi.

The narrative plunges viewers into the extraordinary journey of Kaede, an ordinary high school student whose life takes an unimaginable turn. She finds herself suddenly reincarnated into a fantastical realm teeming with beastkin, mystical elves, and awe-inspiring dragons. Amidst the challenges of navigating this vibrant yet perilous new world, Kaede stumbles upon a profound secret: a mysterious book in her possession grants her the miraculous ability to conjure potent potions. She achieves this by simply gathering materials and uttering the magical incantation, 'Create.' Armed with this newfound power, Kaede's ultimate quest is to not only survive the wonders and dangers of her current existence but also to discover a path back to her home in Japan.

The anime draws its rich lore from Akira Iwafune’s original web novel, which captivated readers on Shōsetsuka ni Narō from April 2014 until its conclusion in September 2024. Its widespread popularity led to a light novel publication by Shufunotomo beginning in 2015, featuring stunning illustrations by Sunaho Tobe. Ten volumes were successfully released through September 2024. Further expanding its universe, a manga adaptation, also illustrated by Tobe, commenced serialization on Shufunotomo’s Hero Comics website in September 2023 and currently boasts 15 chapters.
