Forbidden Melodies & Ancient Spirits: 'Ghost Concert: Missing Songs' Anime Set for 2026 Debut

The official announcement of Ghost Concert: Missing Songs, an original television anime, confirms its debut in 2026. This series is a collaborative effort involving Kadokawa, Elements Garden, and animation studio ENGI. It represents an evolution of Noriyasu Agematsu's Ghost Concert mixed-media project, which began in 2017 with music releases, live performances, and merchandise.
Set in a dystopian 2045, Ghost Concert: Missing Songs depicts a world where human-created music is prohibited. Society depends on a music application named 'MiucS.' The narrative follows Seria Aiba, a high school student with the ability to perceive and interact with spirits. Her life changes upon encountering a 'Great Ghost,' Cleopatra VII, voiced by Rina Hidaka. Cleopatra VII, with her own objectives, possesses Seria's body, initiating a supernatural music battle.
Masato Jinbo is directing and scriptwriting the project at ENGI, a studio known for works such as Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya and The Quintessential Quintuplets. Masaaki Uikawa is responsible for the character designs. The musical composition is handled by Junpei Fujita, Seima Kondō, and Daisuke Horikawa from Elements Garden, aiming to provide a diverse auditory experience consistent with the project's musical origins.

A teaser trailer has been released, highlighting the series' blend of music-driven action and supernatural themes. The trailer includes a preview of “RES∞NALIST,” a song performed by the lead voice actresses. With production support from Kadokawa and Heart Company, Ghost Concert: Missing Songs is expected to offer a narrative combining science fiction, action, and musical elements. The series is scheduled for release in 2026.
