Overview
'Hundred' is set in a world besieged by enigmatic lifeforms known as Savages. The only means of combating these threats are powerful weapons called 'Hundreds,' which can transform into various forms depending on their wielder. Hayato Kisaragi, a Variant survivor of a Savage attack with an enhanced affinity for Hundreds, enrolls at the marine academy city ship Little Garden to become a Slayer—a warrior tasked with defending humanity. His roommate, Emilia Crossford, who initially disguises herself as a boy, shares a mysterious connection with Hayato that unfolds throughout the series. Together, they navigate challenges ranging from intense duels with rival Slayers to high-stakes battles against the relentless Savages. Blending action, sci-fi, and school life, the series explores themes of camaraderie, identity, and survival in a perilous world.
Opinion
'Hundred' delivers an action-packed narrative set against a backdrop of alien threats and futuristic weaponry, but its execution leaves room for improvement. Directed by Tomoki Kobayashi and animated by Production IMS, the series boasts vibrant animation and dynamic combat sequences that bring the battles against Savages to life. However, while the harem elements and school setting provide some entertainment value, the story often feels formulaic, relying heavily on clichéd tropes and predictable plotlines. Yoshiaki Hasegawa voices Hayato Kisaragi with earnestness, though the protagonist's lack of depth limits audience engagement. Similarly, Rumi Ōkubo shines as Emilia Hermit, adding charm and intrigue to her character despite limited development. Fans of sci-fi action may appreciate the creative concept of Hundreds and the visually appealing designs, but the series struggles to elevate itself beyond its generic framework. For viewers seeking a lighthearted mix of action and romance, 'Hundred' offers moderate enjoyment, though it may not leave a lasting impression.
