World Trigger Reboot Confirmed: Teaser Drops at Jump Festa 2026

The World Trigger: Reboot project was announced today. This announcement happened at the Jump Festa 2026 event and a first teaser video was shown there. This is confirmed to be a remake of the existing anime series. Toei Animation is handling the production for this new project. The focus is specifically on the early story arcs of the manga. These arcs include the Border Enlistment Arc and the Large-Scale Invasion Arc. The B-Rank Wars Beginning Arc is also included in this reboot. The original anime ran for 73 episodes starting back in October 2014 and Seasons 2 and 3 finished up in January 2022.

The teaser video was released on the official World Trigger X account and fans could see new looks at the sci-fi action world of the series. Daisuke Ashihara created the source manga for World Trigger. Serialization began in 2013 and Shueisha publishes the manga. Twenty-nine volumes are currently out as of December 2025.

The story follows Osamu Mikumo who is a novice Border agent. He teams up with Yuma Kuga who is an enigmatic Neighbor. They fight interdimensional threats and they use alien technology which is called Triggers. Viz Media provided a synopsis that states Earth defends itself against Neighbors and elite warriors from Border fight them.

Voice actors are returning for this continuity which is good news for fans. Tomo Muranaka voices Yuma Kuga and Yuki Kaji is Osamu Mikumo. Yuichi Nakamura plays Yuichi Jin and Nao Tamura voices Chika Amatori. Fans have waited a long time for this reboot because the original anime stopped before some of the deeper plot points could be covered. Crunchyroll confirmed the teaser and new art which signals international interest in the project.
