The anime feature film adaptation of Nowaki Fukamidori’s fantasy mystery novel, Whoever Steals This Book, has released a new trailer and confirmed six additional members for its voice cast. The film is scheduled for a Japanese theatrical release on December 26, 2025.
The narrative focuses on Mifuyu Mikura, a high school student residing in Mikura Hall, which houses her great-grandfather’s extensive library. Despite this literary environment, Mifuyu is indifferent to books. Her apathy is challenged when a significant theft occurs, inadvertently triggering a powerful, ancient curse. This spell instantly transforms her entire town into a surreal landscape, mirroring the dangerous and fantastical worlds contained within the stolen manuscripts. To resolve this crisis, Mifuyu must leave her ordinary life and embark on a dangerous mission, venturing directly into the cursed stories, guided by the enigmatic Mashiro.

The recently revealed additions further strengthen the cast. These seasoned performers include Yō Taichi, Makoto Koichi, Yumiri Hanamori, Hitomi Ueda, and Manaka Iwami. Furthermore, veteran voice actor Jun Fukuyama has been cast in the crucial role of a mysterious man, promising a complex performance within the film’s emotional framework.
