Aquaplus Schedules Utawarerumono: Shiro e no Michishirube for 2026 Launch on Switch 2, PS5, and PC

Aquaplus has delivered significant news to fans of the long-running Utawarerumono franchise, officially confirming the release window and platforms for the anticipated title, Utawarerumono: Shiro e no Michishirube.
While the game experienced a slight delay from its initial 2025 projection, the epic RPG is now firmly set to debut in Japan in 2026. It targets next-generation hardware, specifically the Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, alongside a worldwide release on PC via Steam.
This latest installment deepens the lore of the Utawarerumono universe, focusing on the formative years of several key characters: Oshtor, Mikazuchi, and Munechika. The narrative begins when Oshtor crosses paths with a mysterious young girl who shares a connection to his late father, setting the stage for a grand adventure leading toward the fabled land of Arva Shulan.

In terms of gameplay, Shiro e no Michishirube blends traditional RPG elements with strategic turn-based combat. The system features an innovative action ring that clearly tracks the turn order for all participants, demanding careful tactical planning from the player. Character development is robust, allowing players to customize their heroes through stat point distribution upon leveling up and engaging in numerous optional side quests that enrich the experience.
The character ensemble is brought to life by a stellar voice cast, including Yuuya Uchida as Mikazuchi, Kentaro Tone as Oshtor, Yuko Minaguchi as Shunya, and Saori Hayami lending her talent to Munechika. The announcement was accompanied by a selection of striking new artwork and screenshots, which showcase a distinct visual style compared to recent 20th-anniversary celebratory titles like Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten.
This release underscores Aquaplus' dedication to expanding the franchise's footprint, following closely on the heels of their decision to port Utawarerumono: ZAN to PC, ensuring that both veteran players and newcomers have ample opportunity to immerse themselves in this rich fantasy world.
