The long-awaited Netflix remake of One Piece, titled The One Piece, just received its first concrete visual update, though it came via an unauthorized leak. A local Chinese government account accidentally shared behind-the-scenes footage confirming that Huahan Animation is contributing to the project, revealing early animation work on key characters from the Orange Town Arc. This glimpse breaks nearly two years of relative silence regarding the visual direction of the Wit Studio-led series.
The official social media page for Lijin County posted the video, highlighting work being done by Huahan Animation. The footage showed animators actively handling line art, cleanup, and coloring for Buggy the Star Clown and his first mate, Cabaji.
While Wit Studio is the primary animation house, this confirms that parts of the production were outsourced to Huahan, a studio with prior experience collaborating on Japanese anime projects. Fans quickly captured stills from the footage, noting the fresh approach in the sketches and colored versions. The style suggests the remake will adhere closely to Eiichiro Oda’s original manga, potentially bypassing the extensive filler material present in the original Toei adaptation.

The unauthorized clip was reportedly pulled down quickly. Some X users noted comments from Wit Studio staff suggesting the frames were shared without permission and urging the county account to make contact. Regardless of the source, the content generated immediate discussion, with many praising the potential visual update for characters like Buggy.
This development follows the recent confirmation that Mayumi Tanaka, the original voice actor for Luffy, is returning for the remake. No official release date has been set at the time of reporting.
