Five Chapters Left: Umamusume: Cinderella Gray Manga Confirms Christmas Day Finale After Five-Year Run

The five-and-a-half-year serialization of the highly celebrated manga series, Umamusume: Cinderella Gray, is nearing its conclusion. The 52nd issue of Weekly Young Jump magazine confirmed that this beloved spin-off of the Umamusume: Pretty Derby franchise will finish its run on December 25, 2025. This announcement specifies that the narrative has exactly five chapters remaining before the finale.
Since its debut in June 2020, the manga, written by Masafumi Sugiura and illustrated by Taiyo Kuzumi, has garnered significant attention. Its success is built upon the compelling life story of Oguri Cap, an ashen-haired umamusume whose journey from humble countryside origins to a national racing champion serves as the central inspiration.
Oguri Cap's path was marked by considerable difficulty, notably debilitating weak knees that initially hindered even simple movement. However, driven by fierce determination and the steadfast support of her mother, she enrolled in a local racing academy. This decision unlocked her potential, propelling her into the national spotlight.
The official X account for the series reinforced the news, highlighting the emotional countdown with the tagline: “Only five chapters left until the finale.” The penultimate collected volume, Volume 22, is scheduled for release in Japan on December 18, 2025, just one week before the series concludes.
The current, climactic storyline, which focuses on Oguri Cap's final, defining race, began in July, setting the stage for a dramatic conclusion. This finale occurs amid strong momentum for the broader franchise.

The television anime adaptation, directed by Takehiro Miura at CygamesPictures, continues its successful broadcast. Having premiered on April 6, 2025, the series is currently airing its second cour, which began in October. The anime is accessible for streaming across major platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Netflix, and the It's Anime YouTube channel in select regions.
To commemorate this significant milestone, Weekly Young Jump will feature the youth-filled "Cinderella story" in an opening color spread. This highlights the importance of this conclusion to the saga, which has spanned 21 compiled volumes since its inception as an adaptation of Cygames' original game property.
