The wait for the anime adaptation of Mika Yamamori’s shojo romance manga, In the Clear Moonlit Dusk (Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki), is nearing its end. The production committee has officially confirmed the broadcast schedule, setting the premiere date for January 11, 2026, at 16:30 JST. The series will debut across Japan on TBS and its affiliated networks.

To accompany the schedule announcement, a new trailer was released, offering a look into the show’s visual style, the emotional dynamic between the protagonists, and the overall nuanced landscape of the adaptation.

Synopsis and Central Conflict

The narrative centers on Yoi Takiguchi, a reserved first-year high school student. Due to her height and low voice, Yoi is frequently mistaken for a boy and has earned the nickname “Prince” among her classmates. She has largely accepted this label, which dictates her interactions with the world. This acceptance is challenged when she encounters Kohaku Ichimura, a popular upperclassman who is also known as the school’s other “prince.” Ichimura is the first person who genuinely looks beyond Yoi’s imposed persona, recognizing her true self. This profound recognition compels Yoi to explore complex new feelings as their relationship develops.

Production Team and Cast

The animation production is being handled by EAST FISH STUDIO. The creative vision is led by Director Yusuke Maruyama, with Ayumu Hisao managing the series composition, Yuki Fukuda designing the characters, and Tsubasa Ito composing the musical score. The production team aims to translate the manga’s unique blend of introspection and elegance using a soft visual approach that emphasizes subtle character expressions and the quiet tension of their bond.

Musical contributions come from UNISON SQUARE GARDEN, who will provide both the opening theme, “Uruwashi,” and the ending theme, “Azalea no Kaze.” Their distinct sound is well-suited to underscore the anime’s romantic and contemplative spirit. Voice actors Rei Ichinomiya and Ryota Suzuki are cast as the central characters, Yoi Takiguchi and Kohaku Ichimura, respectively, promising sensitive and layered performances for these pivotal roles.

Mika Yamamori’s original manga, which explores themes of gender perception, identity discovery, and first romance, has been serialized in Kodansha’s Dessert magazine since July 2020. As of May 2025, nine tankōbon volumes have been released in Japan, and the series is available in English through Kodansha USA. The anime adaptation is positioned to introduce this acclaimed narrative to a wider global audience.
