Historic Sound Shift: Tani Yuuki Unveils 'Moshi Monogatari' Music Video, Marking Doraemon's First New Ending Theme in Two Decades

The iconic world of Doraemon is currently undergoing a significant creative evolution, highlighted by the official release of the music video for the new ending theme, "Moshi Monogatari." Singer-songwriter Tani Yuuki, recognized for his emotive compositions, premiered the video on November 29, 2025, generating substantial interest among the global fanbase.
This video release follows the song's television debut on October 4, 2025. This occasion marked a monumental change for the long-running anime series, as "Moshi Monogatari" is the first new ending theme utilized by the Doraemon TV series in over two decades. To amplify this musical milestone and ensure broad cross-platform appeal, the video features a strategic collaboration with HIKAKIN, one of YouTube’s most influential creators, who commands a subscriber base exceeding 29.8 million. This partnership is designed to significantly expand the song's audience reach, connecting traditional anime viewers with massive digital entertainment communities.
TV Asahi initially confirmed this major thematic shift in September 2025, announcing that Tani Yuuki would assume responsibility for the ending slot. This change involved replacing the long-running tune, "Odore Dore Dora Doraemon Ondo." That previous theme had been an integral component of the anime's identity since the current series iteration launched in 2005, and it was faithfully performed by Doraemon’s current voice actress, Wasabi Mizuta.

"Moshi Monogatari" offers a refreshing and forward-looking direction for the franchise. The song, which Tani Yuuki specially penned, conveys an uplifting message supported by a catchy melody intended to resonate deeply with both younger viewers and nostalgic adult fans. This update is part of TV Asahi’s deliberate strategy to revitalize the overall Doraemon viewing experience.
This revitalization effort began in November 2024 with the introduction of the first new opening theme in five years, "Yume wo Kanaete Doraemon," performed by Mao. The synchronized introduction of fresh opening and ending themes signals a confident creative trajectory for the series, ensuring its core identity remains intact while embracing modern musical sensibilities.
Since its creation by the legendary manga duo Fujiko Fujio and its debut in 1969, the Doraemon franchise has remained a foundational pillar of Japanese pop culture. This momentum is scheduled to continue with the upcoming release of the 45th 2D anime film in 2026, Eiga Doraemon: Shin Nobita no Kaitei Kiganjō (Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil), which is a modernized remake of the 1983 classic. The launch of the "Moshi Monogatari" music video firmly establishes the series’ vibrant contemporary creative direction.
