Supernatural Mystery 'Killed Again, Mr. Detective?' Secures Spring 2026 Anime Debut, Liden Films to Produce

The gripping mystery light novel series, Mata Korosarete Shimatta no desu ne, Tantei-sama, known internationally as Killed Again, Mr. Detective?, is officially preparing for its highly anticipated television anime debut, scheduled for Spring 2026. This significant announcement was made during the recent MF Bunko J Autumn School Festival 2025, where the production committee unveiled essential details, including the main cast lineup, crucial staff appointments, a teaser visual, and an introductory promotional video. The supernatural thriller is slated to broadcast on TBS, promising a unique addition to the seasonal anime schedule.
A Detective Who Cannot Die
The narrative centers on Sakuya Otsuki, the descendant of a legendary investigator. Sakuya possesses an extraordinary and macabre ability: he instantly resurrects every time he is murdered. Alongside his steadfast partner, Lilithea, Sakuya must navigate complex and perilous investigations, routinely sacrificing his life to solve the toughest crimes. This premise effectively merges traditional detective work with high-stakes metaphysical drama.
Production Team and Voice Cast Revealed
Leading the adaptation is a highly experienced production team at Liden Films, a studio known for delivering diverse animated projects. Takashi Naoya, recognized for his directorial efforts on series such as Osananajimi ga Zettai ni Makenai Love Comedy, steps into the director's chair. Handling the series composition is Mio Inoue, known for her work on Bukiyou na Senpai, ensuring a faithful and engaging adaptation of the source material.
Character designs will be managed by Akiko Kumada (Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai: The Clouds Gather), complemented by Emiko Onodera handling the color design and Kuniaki Nemoto overseeing the intricate art direction, guaranteeing a striking visual aesthetic.
The central duo will be voiced by celebrated talents. Rikuya Yasuda takes on the role of the repeatedly deceased protagonist, Sakuya Otsuki, while Shion Wakayama lends her voice to his loyal assistant, Lilithea.

Source Material and Western Availability
The original literary work, penned by Teniwoha and featuring illustrations by Riichu, has already captivated a substantial audience, boasting five volumes published as of March 2024. Furthermore, the manga adaptation, illustrated by Inaba, concluded its run in March 2024 with two compiled volumes.
Western fans can anticipate the release, as Yen Press holds the licensing rights for both the light novel and the manga. The final manga volume is currently slated for release on January 20, 2026. With its compelling blend of mystery and the metaphysical, Mata Korosarete Shimatta no desu ne, Tantei-sama is positioned to be a major highlight of the 2026 anime schedule.
