Studio Kafka has been confirmed to handle the TV anime adaptation of Ikka Matsuki's popular manga, Nippon Sangaku. The series is set to premiere in Spring 2026, with the broadcast slot confirmed for April. The announcement arrived yesterday, revealing a teaser visual, a trailer, key staff, and the main voice cast for the historical fantasy series.
Kazuaki Terasawa is directing the adaptation. Takahiko Abiru is attached to handle character designs and will also serve as chief animation director.

The core voice lineup includes Kensho Ono as the lead, Aoteru Misumi. Seto Asami is voicing Saki Higashimachi, and Takashi Nagasako is cast as Denki Taira. Megumi Han is set to narrate the story.
Studio Kafka is recognized for their work on The Ancient Magus' Bride. The production committee includes NIPPON SANGOKU Partners and Twin Engine.
Nippon Sangaku, which translates to 'Japan: Three Kingdoms,' began running in November 2021 through Shogakukan's Ura Sunday and the MangaONE app. The source manga has six tankobon volumes available as of late 2024 and earned nominations for the Next Manga Awards in both 2022 and 2023.
The story is set in a fractured, post-apocalyptic Japan, broken into three warring factions following major disasters. The plot centers on Aoteru Misumi, an unassuming bureaucrat who must rise as a strategist to attempt national reunification.
