Nippon TV is expanding its Friday Anime Night block to a full hour this April, leading the charge with the premiere of the Snowball Earth TV anime. The adaptation of Yuhiro Tsujitsugu’s post-apocalyptic seinen manga is set to debut on April 3rd at 11:30 p.m. JST. The news was confirmed today via NTV and the project’s official website.
Production for the series is handled by Studio Kai. The manga, which has run in Shogakukan's Monthly Big Comic Spirits since 2021, currently has ten volumes available in Japan. Viz Media began releasing the English volumes in April 2024.
Munehisa Sakai is directing the series, with Takeshi Iwata serving as assistant director. Shigeru Murakoshi is overseeing the series scripts. Toshiya Kōno is credited as both character designer and chief animation director. The music team includes Tatsuya Kato, Hiroaki Tsutsumi, and Yuki Kanesaka.
Takuto Yoshinaga voices the protagonist, Tetsuo Yabusame, a pilot who wakes up from cold sleep to a completely frozen Earth. The main cast also features Daisuke Hirakawa as the giant robot Yukio, Ami Koshimizu as Ao Nogi, and Konomi Tamura as Hagane Takimura.

The story follows Tetsuo awakening eight years later to a post-apocalyptic Snowball Earth scenario, where he must fight alien threats alongside the remnants of humanity. A teaser trailer showcasing the mecha action and icy ruins dropped last December.
Viewers can catch the debut first on NTV. TOHO animation is managing the global streaming rollout, with international platforms scheduled to follow shortly after the Japanese broadcast.
