The long-running light novel series Ryuuou no Oshigoto! (The Ryuo's Work is Never Done!) is officially concluding its nearly 11-year run. GA Bunko confirmed that the final installment, Volume 21, is set for release on July 17th.
The concluding volume carries the subtitle Shirayukihime to Ryuuou no Kekkon, which translates to Snow White and the Dragon King's Marriage, strongly suggesting the resolution of the central romantic plotline. GA Bunko announced the news through their official X account, @Ryuoshi_PR.
Author Shirow Shiratori began the series back in September 2015 under the SB Creative imprint. The story centers on Yaichi Kuzuryu, who holds the prestigious Ryuo shogi title as the youngest person ever at age 16, and his young disciple, Ai Hinatsuru. The narrative tracks their development through high-stakes professional shogi matches and their personal lives.

The subtitle points directly toward the relationship between Yaichi and Ginko Sora, a mutual connection that was established back in Volume 11. The series has consistently integrated the complexities of professional shogi into the character drama.
The source material previously inspired a 12-episode anime adaptation by Project No.9 in 2018, which covered the first five volumes of the novels. A manga adaptation also ran in Young Gangan from 2015 through 2019, concluding with 10 collected volumes. For English readers, BookWalker Global currently offers digital editions, with Volume 18 slated for release in November 2024.
