
The main trailer for the original anime film A New Dawn has dropped, confirming the theme song artist and locking in the theatrical release date. This project marks the feature directorial debut of Yoshitoshi Shinomiya.
The trailer revealed that musician imase is performing the theme song, titled "Aoba." The film, officially titled Hanarokusho ga Akeru Hi ni, is now set to premiere in Japanese theaters on March 6, 2026.
The story follows Keitaro Obinata, who is struggling to manage his family's 330-year-old fireworks factory as it faces closure. Keitaro has spent six years searching for his missing father’s legendary "Shuhari" firework before the factory is confiscated. His childhood friend, Kaoru, returns from Tokyo, prompting a plan to uncover the secrets behind these special fireworks. The narrative explores heavy themes, including extreme weather, disasters, and identity crises among the three young main characters connected to the factory.

The main cast was confirmed, featuring several acting debuts. Riku Hagiwara stars as Keitaro in his first acting role, while Kotone Furukawa voices Kaoru in her anime debut. Miyu Irino is set as Keitaro's brother, Sentaro. Takashi Okabe also makes his voice acting debut, playing the father, Eitaro.
Director Yoshitoshi Shinomiya is also handling co-background art alongside Akiko Majima, who previously worked on Your Name. Anna Tomizaki (Beastars) is directing compositing, and Shuta Hasunuma is composing the music. Tsutomu Fujio (Ping Pong The Animation) serves as the animation producer.
Production is a joint effort between Asmik Ace, Studio Outrigger, and Miyu Productions, with Asmik Ace handling distribution. Before its domestic release, A New Dawn will premiere in competition at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, which runs from February 12th to the 22nd.
