Nitroplus confirmed that their foundational visual novel, Phantom PHANTOM OF INFERNO, is set for a Steam release sometime in 2026. The announcement was made late on New Year's Eve via the official Nitro Origin X account, signaling a major effort to bring older catalog titles to modern PC platforms.
This 2000 classic served as the breakthrough project for writer Gen Urobuchi, who later penned massive hits including Fate/Zero and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. The core narrative centers on a young man who loses his memory after a trip to America. He is subsequently trained by Phantom, the top assassin within the shadowy Inferno organization, forcing him into a life of contract killing.
The version hitting Steam is expected to be the 2012 all-ages remake. That update significantly refreshed the visuals, polished the script, and added full Japanese voice acting. This version moved beyond the original 2000 release and the 2004 18+ revision, Phantom INTEGRATION.

Furthermore, the 2012 edition integrated story material drawn from the 26-episode anime adaptation, Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~.
While Nitroplus confirmed plans to port more classic titles following Phantom, they have not specified which games are next in line. It is also important to note that an official English localization for the visual novel has not been confirmed at the time of reporting. The studio framed this release as the first step in revitalizing their library for current audiences.
