The Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha franchise officially set the broadcast date for its 20th-anniversary TV anime, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance. The series is scheduled to air in July 2026, marking a major creative pivot for the long-running magical girl property. The announcement arrived with a new key visual and a teaser promotional video.
This new installment shifts the setting thirty years into a bleak, post-apocalyptic future. The narrative centers on Shiina Kuze, a hunter operating out of the secluded Mizuho Island. She focuses on protecting her younger sister, Setsuna, while constantly fighting aggressive alien species. Humanity barely survived a devastating war against these extraterrestrial invaders and now clings to a fragile existence.

Franchise originator Masaki Tsuzuki is handling the writing and screenplay duties. Takayuki Hamana directs the series. Character designs are attributed to Shuichi Kawakami, with animation supervision by Issei Aragaki. Production is being handled by Seven Arcs, the studio responsible for several previous Nanoha entries.
Rina Hidaka has been cast as Setsuna Kuze, the academically gifted and domestically capable younger sister to Shiina. While the PV hinted at other cast members, the focus remains heavily on the Kuze sisters at the time of reporting.
A manga adaptation of EXCEEDS has been running in Kodansha’s Wednesday Sirius since April 2025, with Volume 2 due out in February 2026. This TV series follows last October’s Lyrical Selection, which re-edited the first two theatrical films for television broadcast.
