The Moon on a Rainy Night TV Anime Drops First Teaser Visual, Staff Details Confirmed

REMOW officially dropped the first teaser visual for the TV anime adaptation of Kuzushiro's yuri manga, The Moon on a Rainy Night, on December 29. The artwork prominently features the two main characters, Saki Kindaichi and Kanon Oikawa, set against a dark, rainy evening, immediately establishing the emotional core of the series.
Key production staff were announced alongside the visual. Tomoe Makino, known for directing Aharen-san wa Hakarenai, is taking the helm at studio CompTown. Shogo Yasukawa, who previously worked on Food Wars!, is handling the series composition and scripts, while Ayumi Nishihata from Otherside Picnic is designing the characters.
Director Makino commented that her goal is to faithfully capture the manga's unique atmosphere, comparing it to "the moon hidden behind rain clouds—present, yet unseen." The original creator, Kuzushiro, participated in a Q&A, emphasizing the story’s focus on struggles that are not immediately visible.
The yuri manga centers on high schooler Saki reaching out to her hard-of-hearing classmate, Kanon. Their relationship develops through small, daily interactions.

A special collaboration illustration was also shared, pairing characters from The Moon on a Rainy Night with those from Kuzushiro's other ongoing series, A Mangaka's Weirdly Wonderful Workplace, which is currently airing.
The series has been running in Kodansha's Comic Days since 2021 and currently has 10 collected volumes. The 11th volume is scheduled for release on January 20. Kodansha USA recently made volume 8 available digitally on December 23.
