Mikanuji, Creator of 'Assorted Entanglements,' Unveils New Shared-Living Manga 'Tsukuru Niwa'

Acclaimed manga artist Mikanuji, widely recognized for the popular yuri series Assorted Entanglements (Fuzoroi no Renri), has officially commenced a new serialization. This highly anticipated project, titled Tsukuru Niwa (A Garden for Creating), debuted on Kadokawa's digital platform, Comic Newtype, in November 2025.

Tsukuru Niwa centers on the lives of twin sisters, Hime and Yume. Following an injury sustained by their grandmother, the sisters are unexpectedly tasked with managing a communal living space. This unique dormitory setting is home to a diverse group of tenants, each dedicated to their individual artistic and personal pursuits. The narrative is set to explore the complex dynamics within this shared residence, focusing on ensemble storytelling and emotional depth.

The inaugural chapter included a color splash page featuring Tokyo Big Sight, a location well-known for hosting major dōjinshi events such as Comic Market. This launch signifies Mikanuji’s return to serialization following the conclusion of previous successful works.

Mikanuji’s prior work, Assorted Entanglements, began on pixiv in 2017 before moving to full serialization on Comic Newtype in 2020. The series concluded its run with the tenth volume release in June 2025 and has been licensed for English publication by Yen Press. Additionally, Mikanuji completed the serialization of Senpai, Oishii Desu ka? in August 2023, a series that launched in 2021.

While Assorted Entanglements garnered critical acclaim for its realistic, slice-of-life portrayal of interconnected lesbian relationships, targeting a seinen audience, Tsukuru Niwa offers a fresh exploration of character development within a shared environment.
