The second season of the ice-skating anime Medalist has confirmed four new additions to its supporting cast as the series continues its run. The new season premiered in Japan on January 24, 2026, airing late nights on TV Asahi affiliates.
The production revealed major casting for key figures entering the competitive figure skating drama. Natsuki Hanae joins the cast as Kakeru Uobuchi, a freelance coach known for specializing in jumps. Konomi Inagaki is set to voice Miku Ahiru, a middle school skater who recently secured the gold medal at the Hokkaido-Tohoku tournament.
Shoya Ishige will appear as Kohei Kamogawa, the head coach at Tonanmachi Lake FSC. Kamogawa is also noted as an old teammate of lead coach Tsukasa Akeuraji. Finally, Yuki Ono has been cast as Juna Shiratori, a celebrity choreographer whose involvement is expected to impact the plot.
These newcomers join the established lineup featuring Natsumi Haruse as Inori Yuitsuka and Takeo Otsuka as Tsukasa Akeuraji. The returning cast also includes Kana Ichinose, Yuma Uchida, Makoto Koichi, and Taito Ban.
Hanae commented that he was deeply inspired by the original manga and focused on capturing the specific joy a coach feels watching their students improve. Ishige expressed his honor at joining the Medalist universe, while Inagaki promised to deliver Miku’s blend of power and fragility on the ice.

Director Yasutaka Yamamoto is leading the production at studio ENGI. Jukki Hanada is handling the series composition, and Chinatsu Kameyama is responsible for character designs. The opening theme is 'Cold Night,' performed by HANA, and Conton Candy sings the ending theme, 'Rookies.'
The series adapts Tsurumai Kadetsugu's manga, following Inori and Tsukasa as they strive for Olympic success. Season 1 aired 13 episodes between January and March 2025. Those episodes are available on Hulu in the US and Disney+ internationally. A theatrical feature film is slated for release in 2027.
