Rumiko Takahashi's manga Mao just unveiled a slew of new anime details during a special livestream event. The broadcast confirmed the full voice cast, revealed the ending theme song, debuted the first promotional video, and set a two-straight-cour broadcast schedule with no breaks.
Viewers can catch the premiere on NHK General on April 4 at 11:45 p.m. Sunrise, the studio behind Inuyasha, is handling the production. Yuki Kaji is cast as the lead exorcist Mao, with Natsumi Kawaida voicing the time-traveler Nanoka Kiba. Hiro Shimono as Hyakka and Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Kamon were previously announced.
Today's stream introduced several new additions to the lineup. Momoka Terasawa will voice Otoya, Motoko Kumai is cast as Funa Uozumi, and Youko Hikasa is playing Tenko. Kazuyuki Okitsu joins as Shiranui, Risa Shimizu handles Sana, Reina Ueda voices Yurako, and Takashi Matsuyama brings Byouki to the screen.

On the music front, Kis-My-Ft2 will perform the opening theme, titled 'HEARTLOUD.' The ending theme, 'Juai' (Cursed Love), will be performed by the group TRUE. The new promotional video gives fans a look at the supernatural action, showing Nanoka jumping into the Taisho period to deal with yokai and the mysteries surrounding Mao.
Teruo Sato is directing the series. For manga readers, Viz Media currently publishes the English version, with Volume 24 due out this May. Takahashi's work first debuted in Weekly Shonen Sunday back in 2019.
