Manga Mavericks Books utilized its panel at Animé Los Angeles 2026 to confirm two new manga acquisitions set for English release this year. The publisher is continuing its strategy of focusing on indie and less conventional titles for its lineup.
The first license announced is Divine Messengers and Demonic Guardians from the Koukoku Brothers. This is an ongoing indie title that has previously been sold at Japanese events like COMITIA. The story centers on children navigating strange adventures and uncovering hidden secrets across cultural lines. Manga Mavericks plans a digital-first rollout, with Volume 1 currently targeting an April 2026 debut. A print run is being considered for a later date. The creators pitched the work as a story about growth and discovery.

The second acquisition shifts toward grounded slice-of-life drama: Vegetable Sandwich by Banjo Saitou. This series was originally published in Japan across two volumes by Two Virgins. The English release is confirmed for both digital and print editions and will utilize the larger A5 trim size, giving it a more substantial feel. While the exact launch date is still pending, the title is slated for release within the general 2026 window.
This announcement reinforces Manga Mavericks’ commitment to niche picks, following earlier releases like First Time in Taiwan. These two titles represent some of the more unique offerings scheduled for the publisher's 2026 slate for readers looking beyond the mainstream pipeline.
