Kyoto Animation Confirms 'RuriDragon' TV Anime Adaptation

Kyoto Animation has officially confirmed a TV anime adaptation for Masaoki Shindō’s popular manga, RuriDragon. The news dropped during KyoAni’s year-end thank you video, strategically timed to coincide with protagonist Ruri Aoki’s birthday on December 28th.
The brief announcement solidified the project’s greenlight and included a short animated clip alongside celebratory artwork provided by Shindō himself. While the confirmation is solid, the studio made it clear that a full TV broadcast is still "a long way off."
The story centers on high schooler Ruri Aoki, who wakes up one morning sporting horns and discovers she is part dragon, mixing typical school life with light supernatural comedy.

RuriDragon originally debuted as a one-shot in Jump GIGA back in 2020 before moving to Weekly Shōnen Jump in mid-2022, eventually landing on Shōnen Jump+.
Viz Media currently handles the English publication via MANGA Plus. They are also planning a print release for 2025, which is set to expand the series' reach significantly in North America.
Although some external reports are pointing toward a 2027 release window, KyoAni has not yet published any formal scheduling information. Fans should keep an eye on official RuriDragon channels and future KyoAni promotional materials for concrete staff announcements and more visuals.
