
Shochiku has officially launched the website and dropped the first promotional materials for the anime movie adaptation of Kaori Mado's light novel, Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to. The film is locked in for a mid-summer release, confirming it will hit Japanese theaters on July 17, 2026.
The initial teaser visual and trailer introduced the central pairing: Makoto Natsume, a freshman at a Tokyo junior high, and his popular classmate, Aki Hayama. Their relationship ignites during Niigata's massive Nagaoka Festival, one of Japan's premier fireworks displays.
The plot centers on a mysterious drawing of fireworks that forces the pair to confront a choice dictated by fate.
Casting details were confirmed alongside the visual. Shōri Satō, from the idol group timelesz, is voicing Makoto. Nanoka Hara, known for roles in Suzume and the live-action Oshi no Ko, will voice Aki.
Kei Suzuki is directing the film; he previously worked on City Hunter The Movie: Angel Dust and Tower of God: Return of the Prince. Animation duties are split between SynergySP and The Answer Studio. Kōhei Mori is handling the screenplay.

Yūji Watanabe is overseeing the look and also handled character designs. Michihiko Umezawa is planning and producing alongside Shinei Animation. The original script for the concept was penned by Madoka Hosoya and michi.
