Kijin Gentoushou Expands Cast for Bakumatsu Arc, Adjusts Finale Schedule for Enhanced Viewer Experience

Fans of the critically acclaimed historical fantasy series, Kijin Gentoushou, also known globally as Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho, are abuzz with the latest developments from the anime's production committee. As this captivating saga continues to unfold, significant updates regarding its supporting cast for the intense “Bakumatsu” arc have been revealed, alongside a crucial adjustment to the broadcast schedule for its highly anticipated final episodes. This ensures that the series, celebrated for its intricate blend of supernatural elements and historical drama, will deliver a polished and unforgettable conclusion.
Esteemed Voice Actors Join the Bakumatsu Arc
The ongoing “Bakumatsu” arc, which commenced with episode 14 on July 15, 2025, is set to be elevated by the addition of esteemed voice actors. Anime aficionados will recognize the talents of Toshihiko Seki, stepping into the role of Yasuhide Hatakeyama; Kenichiro Matsuda as Tsuchiura; and Kazuya Nakai, who joins as Kiichi Okada. These seasoned performers will lend their voices to an already stellar ensemble, which includes Taku Yashiro as Jinta, Reina Ueda as Suzune, Saori Hayami as Shirayuki, Hiroshi Shirokuma as Doga no Oni, and Yui Kondo as Tomi no Kijo, promising an even richer auditory experience for viewers.
Commitment to Quality: Broadcast Schedule Adjusted
However, in a move to uphold the highest production standards, Yokohama Animation Lab has announced a slight recalibration of the broadcast schedule for the series' climactic conclusion. To guarantee exceptional quality in its final chapters, the last three episodes have been strategically rescheduled. Episode 22, initially aired, will be rebroadcast on September 16, 2025. Following this, episode 23 is slated for September 23, and the grand series finale, episode 24, will captivate audiences on September 30, 2025, exclusively on Tokyo MX. This proactive measure underscores the production team's commitment to delivering a truly immersive and visually stunning finale.

Since its debut on March 31, 2025, Kijin Gentoushou has captivated audiences with its compelling narrative, brought to life under the direction of Kazuya Aiura and series composition by Deko Akao. Adapted from Motoo Nakanishi's acclaimed novel, first serialized on the Arcadia website and later published by Futabasha with stunning illustrations by Tamaki, the anime masterfully immerses viewers in Japan’s turbulent Bakumatsu era. The second cour’s dynamic opening theme “Ash” by Alexandros and the evocative ending theme “Enrin” by FAKE TYPE further enhance the series' atmospheric depth. Despite these minor scheduling shifts, Kijin Gentoushou remains a standout title in the 2025 anime lineup, a testament to its compelling storyline, stellar voice acting, and dedicated artistic direction.
