Kaiju No. 8 Final Arc Confirmed for Jump Festa 2026; New Narumi Short Also Revealed

The future for the Kaiju No. 8 anime was revealed at Jump Festa 2026. This happened during the Jump Super Stage event. Production confirmed the final arc will be titled Kaijuu 8-gou: Kanketsu-hen. A new original short anime was also revealed, and that short is Kaijuu 8-gou: Narumi no Heijitsu, which means Narumi's Weekdays. Fans of Naoya Matsumoto's manga were notified of the news. The manga finished serialization in July 2025 in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+. It ran for 129 chapters total across 16 volumes.

The event showed a teaser visual and a promo trailer ran too. The trailer focused on intense kaiju fights. Hype built for the adaptation of the manga's major parts, including the Second Wave Arc and the Last Wave Arc.

Production I.G is handling the animation again, and Studio Khara handles the creature designs. This final arc follows the first season which ran in Spring 2024 with 12 episodes. The second season aired in Summer 2025 with 11 episodes, totaling 23 episodes streamed globally on Crunchyroll.

The plot centers on Kafka Hibino, who is 32 years old. He works cleanup for kaiju remains. A parasitic creature gave him powers and he became Kaiju No. 8. He wants to join the Japan Defense Force and must keep his promise to Mina Ashiro, his childhood friend, and he hides his identity while external threats continue to grow.

The new short is titled Narumi's Week at Work or Narumi's Weekdays. It focuses on Gen Narumi, who captains the First Division and is known for being charismatic. The short gives fresh original material and bridges fans to the main finale. Previous specials like Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon, a movie compilation, and Hoshina's Day Off kept momentum up. Official X accounts teased the news, and more reveals are coming via kaiju-no8.net. This ends a big run for the Viz Media-licensed series, promising epic closure for Kafka's double life.
