Kaguya-sama: Love is War Special Gets New Opening Theme MV Ahead of New Year's Eve Premiere

Masayuki Suzuki, the artist behind every Kaguya-sama: Love is War opening theme, has released the music video for 'Abunai Kioku' (Dangerous Memory), the opening song for the upcoming TV special. The track features a significant collaboration, with Aoi Koga, the voice of Kaguya Shinomiya, handling the vocal duet alongside Suzuki.

The video dropped on Suzuki's official YouTube channel this Tuesday. It blends his signature sound with Koga's performance and is edited using footage from the anime series, highlighting key moments ahead of the broadcast.

The special, officially titled Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Otona e no Kaidan (The Steps to Become an Adult), is set to premiere on December 31st at 10 p.m. JST. It will air across Tokyo MX, BS11, and Tochigi TV, with subsequent broadcasts on Gunma TV and MBS scheduled for January.

A-1 Pictures is handling animation duties for the special, with Mamoru Hatakeyama directing. Yūko Yahiro is responsible for character designs, and Kei Haneoka is scoring the music.

The main cast is confirmed to return, led by Aoi Koga as Kaguya and Makoto Furukawa as Miyuki Shirogane. Returning members also include Konomi Kohara as Chika Fujiwara, Ryota Suzuki as Yu Ishigami, Miyu Tomita as Miko Iino, and Yumiri Hanamori as Ai Hayasaka.

This special follows the 2022 theatrical release, Kaguya-sama: Love is War -The First Kiss That Never Ends-. The anime adapts Aka Akasaka's manga, which concluded in 2022 after 28 volumes and recorded sales exceeding 22 million copies.
