Iron-Blooded Orphans Marks a Decade with New Short Film and 'Urðr Hunt' Theatrical Debut

In a significant 10th anniversary celebration since its original broadcast, the highly acclaimed Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (Kidou Senshi Gundam: Tekketsu no Orphans) franchise is set to captivate audiences once more with a new short anime film. Titled Makuai no Kusabi, this anticipated film will premiere alongside the standalone theatrical release of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans – Urðr Hunt Special Edition: Path of the Little Challenger. Japanese cinemas will host this dual cinematic event on October 31, 2025, promising an immersive experience for devoted fans.
The Urðr Hunt narrative, initially conceived as an anime spin-off for a 2022 mobile game, bridges the narrative gap between the first and second seasons of the beloved TV series, offering new perspectives on its rich and intricate lore.
This highly anticipated cinematic venture serves as a cornerstone of the ongoing 10th anniversary festivities for the original Iron-Blooded Orphans TV anime. The series, known for its two compelling seasons and 50 episodes, is celebrated for its grounded storytelling and intricate political intrigue. To ensure the integrity and emotional resonance of its acclaimed vision, key production figures, including director Tatsuyuki Nagai and writer Mari Okada, are reprising their roles. Their return promises the same emotional depth and narrative prowess that defined the original series. Furthermore, fan-favorite voice actors Kengo Kawanishi and Yoshimasa Hosoya will also return, lending their voices to Mikazuki Augus and Orga Itsuka, reigniting the dynamic chemistry central to the franchise's appeal.

Makuai no Kusabi is designed to offer both a nostalgic experience for long-time viewers and a fresh narrative perspective, delving deeper into the story's emotional legacies. To complement these releases, a new visual and an action-packed trailer have been unveiled. These provide glimpses into intense sequences and showcase an exciting, never-before-seen variation of the iconic Gundam Barbatos, a design sure to thrill fans.
The theatrical pairing of Urðr Hunt and Makuai no Kusabi marks a significant milestone for fans across Japan. An ambitious North American release is also planned, reaffirming the franchise's global impact and enduring legacy within the anime landscape.
