The ongoing TV anime adaptation of The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife just dropped a fresh key visual, spotlighting the cozy romance at its core. Crunchyroll shared the image today, showing leads Akira Tounome and Shizuka Yakou sharing a tender moment that captures their unique dynamic.
The series finally premiered on January 8, 2026, after being pushed back from its original 2025 slot. It centers on the invisible detective Akira Tounome and his blind coworker, Shizuka Yakou, working together at their agency.
A major draw of the series is the development of their slow-burn romance. Shizuka perceives Akira not through sight, but through sensory details like his footsteps, scent, and touch, making physical proximity central to their relationship.
Animation duties are being handled by Project No.9. Mitsuho Seta is directing and managing the scripts, while Kairi Unabara handles character designs. Yoichi Kadono is supervising the suit designs, which is crucial for getting the tricky invisible-body animations right.

The established voice cast includes Yohei Azakami as Akira and Yuka Nukui as Shizuka. Riho Sugiyama is cast as Luna Jarashi and Masaya Fukunishi as Daichi Kikira. New additions to the cast include Tomonori Ono voicing Karma and Kaori Ishihara as Light.
Ishihara, who voices Light, is also performing the ending theme, "Hoshimagane."
Crunchyroll is simulcasting this supernatural romance. Early viewer feedback has noted how thoughtfully the series handles the characters' specific traits without resorting to easy clichés, pointing out smooth execution details like the gauze effects used to represent Akira's invisible limbs.
