The TV anime adaptation of Kumako Hisama’s 4-koma manga, Ichijyoma Mankitsu Gurashi!, dropped its first teaser trailer this week, confirming the series is set to air in April 2026. The preview gives fans a look at protagonist Meiko Morita’s unexpected new life in Tokyo, where her dream of a nice dorm at Amamiya Girls' Academy turns into a one-tatami room inside a shared-housing manga café called "Hedgehog."
Meiko, a transfer student from Akita, is forced to pull shifts behind the counter as part of her new reality.
The main voice cast was also confirmed alongside the trailer release. Hana Hishikawa will star as Meiko Morita. Saho Shirasu is cast as dorm manager Rie Amamiya, and Chiharu voices Marika Suzuki.
Four additional residents joining the chaos were revealed: Michika Narumi from the adjacent cat café, 18-year-old Majikarumomorin Gōda, streamer Gao of GaoChube, and her maid Beruna. The marketing push is already underway, as Marica Belltree launched a YouTube VTuber channel with a debut stream scheduled for February 17.

Toshinori Watabe, known for directing Tokyo Ghoul:re and Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest, is helming the project at PRA studio. Fumiya Uehara is handling the character designs, and MONACA is composing the music.
The full animation staff includes chief animation directors Minefumi Harada, Yuki Yabuta, and Saori Sakiguchi.
The series is based on Hisama's manga, which began serialization in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara back in December 2018 and currently has four collected volumes. Global streaming rights have been secured by REMOW, which also released an English-subtitled version of the teaser PV online.
