Global Phenomenon Ends: 'That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime' Light Novel Concludes After 11-Year Run

After an extraordinary run spanning over a decade, the celebrated light novel series Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken, popularly known as That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, has officially reached its grand finale. The saga concluded in Japan with the highly anticipated release of its 23rd and final volume on November 29, 2025. This momentous closing was confirmed by Micro Magazine's GC Novels imprint via their official social media channels, marking the culmination of an 11-year narrative journey that began when Fuse first launched the web novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō platform back in February 2013.
The concluding installment, aptly titled 'Genesis of Rivalry,' delivers the much-awaited resolution to the sprawling adventures of the beloved protagonist, Rimuru Tempest. This isekai powerhouse has cemented its legacy, boasting staggering global sales exceeding 56 million copies across all media formats. Such monumental success firmly establishes Tensura as one of the most commercially and critically significant fantasy franchises of the modern era.

While the main story concludes, fans received a special bonus with the simultaneous release of a new side story, Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Toaru Kyūka no Sugoshi-kata (How to Spend a Certain Vacation). This particular spinoff, which originated online in 2023 as part of the series’ tenth-anniversary celebration, previously received a complete manga adaptation illustrated by Yuzo Takada, which wrapped up its run in May 2023.
The series creator, Fuse, had previously signaled the impending conclusion in the notes for the 22nd volume, expressing his commitment to bringing Rimuru's story to a close within 2025. The final volume’s iconic cover art, featuring the cast one last time, was proudly unveiled by GC Novels ahead of the release.
The Tensura universe, however, is far from fading away. The multimedia empire continues its expansion with the fourth season of the globally successful anime adaptation currently underway. Furthermore, a new feature-length anime film is slated for a theatrical debut on February 27, 2026. Looking ahead, a brand new spinoff light novel series, Tensura Gaiden, is scheduled to begin publication in 2026. This ensures that even as the main novel series takes its final bow, the vibrant world of Rimuru Tempest will continue to offer fans fresh stories and exciting new frontiers for years to come.
