The upcoming compilation film, Shin-Gekijōban Gintama: Yoshiwara Daienjō, has confirmed a major new voice actor joining the franchise, along with the return of several fan-favorite regulars. Kappei Yamaguchi is officially set to voice Enkaku, a character created specifically for this anime version who is noted as being close to the Night King Hōsen. This marks Yamaguchi’s first time participating in the Gintama series.
The film is adapting the brutal Yoshiwara in Flames arc, covering episodes 139 through 146 from the original TV run. BN Pictures is producing the project, which will feature entirely new animation sequences and these additional characters mixed into the established storyline.
Three regulars from Kabukicho are also confirmed to reprise their roles: Kujira returns as Otose, Yuu Sugimoto reprises Catherine, and Omi Minami is set as Tama.

Naoya Ando is directing the film, with Taku Kishimoto handling the scripts. Yōichi Fujita is supervising the project, and Shinji Takeuchi is managing the character designs.
The story plunges Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura into the dark underworld of Yoshiwara, which is controlled by the powerful antagonist Hōsen. Recent scene cuts have shown Otose, Catherine, Tama, and Elizabeth getting into action, building anticipation for the premiere.
Shin-Gekijōban Gintama: Yoshiwara Daienjō is set to premiere in Japan on February 13, 2026. This release is part of the ongoing celebration of the franchise’s anniversaries; the manga hit 20 years in 2023, and the anime will reach 20 years in 2026. The film follows other recent compilation releases like Gintama on Theater 2D: Kintama-hen, which debuted in late 2024. Hideaki Sorachi’s original manga finished its run back in 2019, having moved over 73 million copies.
