The second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is set to begin next week, and the first preview images for Episode 29 confirm the party immediately faces a crisis that strips them of their primary defense. The story picks up right after Frieren, Fern, and Stark depart the magic city of Äußerst. They immediately run into trouble, tumbling into a cavern where ground instability leads them straight into a massive deposit of Magic-Sealing Ore, completely cutting off their spells.
With magic useless, Frieren and Fern are forced to find another way out when a monster attacks them in the dark. Fans should also note the return of Wirbel from the First-Class Mage Exam arc; Kisho Taniyama is back to voice the character. This opening sequence sets the stage for the Northern Lands arc, which kicks off in manga Volume 7, Chapter 61.

TOHO Animation recently released the main trailer for Season 2 on January 11, giving fans fresh clips of the upcoming run. Musically, Mrs. GREEN APPLE is handling the opening theme, "lulu.," while milet returns to perform the ending theme, "The Story of Us," her second contribution to the series.
Episode 29 airs Friday, January 16, at 11:00 PM JST on Japanese television. For international viewers, Crunchyroll will stream the episode the same day at 7:00 AM PT, covering North America and Europe. The English dub is slated to arrive later in Winter 2026.
