The Dragon Ball production committee confirmed a major new TV anime project yesterday, January 25, announcing a series centered on the God of Destruction Beerus set to air in Fall 2026. The announcement came during the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event held at Makuhari Messe. This project is timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Akira Toriyama launching the original manga in Weekly Shonen Jump.
Toei Animation is labeling the series as an "ENHANCED edition" of the original Beerus Saga. The studio promised a full story reconstruction intended to align much more closely with Toriyama’s initial concepts.
The scope of the overhaul is significant. Fans can expect new animation cuts, completely redrawn sequences, re-rendered footage, fresh voice-over work, updated sound effects, and additional musical scoring. Production staff specifically noted that the battles featuring Beerus will receive major technological upgrades designed to better convey his immense, universe-threatening power.

Akio Iyoku, a member of the production staff, confirmed that development on this ambitious reconstruction began several years ago. The story revisits the classic arc where Beerus wakes up, learns of the Saiyan who defeated Frieza, and subsequently arrives on Earth to challenge Goku and the Z Fighters. The narrative maintains the high stakes, showing the Kais visibly nervous about Beerus's destructive capability.
A launch trailer and a key visual debuted immediately following the official announcement, showcasing the revamped aesthetic. At the time of reporting, details regarding the final episode count or which international platforms will carry the series remain undisclosed.
The event also briefly touched on other upcoming franchise projects, including the sequel to Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, a new game titled AGE1000, and DLC for Sparking ZERO. Toriyama remains credited for the original work, story concepts, and character designs.
