The next Doraemon theatrical feature, Doraemon: Nobita and the New Castle of the Undersea Devil, is making franchise history by confirming its debut in both MX4D and 4DX formats. This marks the first time the long-running series will offer a tactile experience through motion seats, wind, water effects, lighting, and even smells synced to the action. Staff revealed this news today alongside a new trailer and poster promoting the immersive approach.
This 45th installment is a remake of the 1983 classic, Doraemon: Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil. It is set to hit Japanese theaters on February 27, 2026. A separate video guide was released detailing how the 4DX and MX4D systems will integrate with the film’s more intense sequences.
The new poster emphasizes the contrast between the vibrant deep sea setting and the ominous Castle of the Undersea Devil. The official tagline reads: “Dive together into a great undersea adventure no one has ever known!” The film continues the traditional 2D animation style, skipping the 3D CG route previously seen in the Stand By Me series.

Tetsuo Yajima is directing the film, with Isao Murayama handling the screenplay. Shōya Chiba voices the soldier El, and Ryō Hirohashi is voicing the Mizunaka Buggy. Actress Airi Taira is serving as the film's ambassador, joined by the comedy duo Alco & Peace, who also have roles as soldiers.
The plot follows Nobita and the gang as they use gadgets like the Underwater Buggy while camping underwater. This leads them to discover the Mu Federation and ultimately face off against the moving Devil's Rock Castle.
