The television anime adaptation of Shizumu Watanabe's digital horror manga, Dead Account, has confirmed its premiere date, solidifying its position as a highly anticipated title for the Winter 2026 season. Following the release of a new key visual and the definitive third promotional video (PV), the series is officially scheduled to debut on Saturday, January 10, 2026. This announcement confirms the anime's blend of supernatural terror and contemporary digital intrigue.

The narrative introduces an unsettling reality where malevolent phantoms inhabit the global digital infrastructure, infecting social media and various online platforms. The protagonist is Sōji Enishiro, a determined 15-year-old streamer known online as 'Aoringo.' Sōji is motivated by the urgent necessity of funding his younger sister's critical medical care, pushing him to extreme lengths in content creation.

His life undergoes a significant change after a traumatic encounter with a vengeful entity in the virtual world, which inexplicably grants him powerful spiritual abilities. Armed with these new powers, Sōji is drawn into the specialized field of cyber-exorcism, leading him to enroll at Miden Academy. This elite institution is dedicated to training specialists who combat these digital hauntings.

Dead Account explores relevant contemporary themes, including the dangers of online manipulation, the psychological risks inherent in the internet age, and the increasingly blurred line between the physical and digital realms. The series aims to refresh the classic ghost story genre for a connected generation.
