Crunchyroll confirmed the 2026 Anime Awards are set for May 23 in Tokyo. This marks the tenth edition of the global ceremony, which returns to Japan to celebrate the industry's output from the previous year.
Sally Amaki and Jon Kabira are confirmed to co-host the main broadcast for the fourth consecutive year. The event will take place at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa and feature a global pre-show, the traditional orange carpet, and presentations across 32 award categories.
A major highlight announced is a tribute to Neon Genesis Evangelion for its 30th anniversary. Yoko Takahashi will perform the iconic theme song, "A Cruel Angel’s Thesis," as part of the celebration.

Adding to the musical lineup, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra is scheduled to perform symphonic suites. Hirofumi Kurita will conduct the orchestra, with arrangements provided by Kazunori Miyake. More performers are expected to be announced soon.
Nominees for the awards will drop on April 2. Fan voting will commence shortly after the list is revealed. Finalists are selected by a panel of global creatives, influencers, and industry professionals.
The awards cover content that aired between January 1 and December 31, 2025, determining winners across series, voice acting, music, and more. The entire ceremony will stream globally, with Lauren Moore and Tim Lyu anchoring the pre-show livestream. Production support is provided by Sony Music Solutions and Dempsey Productions.
