BOCCHI THE ROCK! Stage Play Announces "2026 RE:boot" with Original Cast Returning

The acclaimed live stage adaptation of Aki Hamaji's manga and anime series, BOCCHI THE ROCK!, is scheduled for a return with its fourth installment. This new production, officially titled "2026 RE:boot," is set to offer a renewed theatrical experience while maintaining the core musical elements that define the franchise.
The revival will be held for a limited engagement at Tokyo's THEATER MILANO-Za. Performances are scheduled to run from February 7 through February 23, 2026.
The core cast members portraying the fictional Kessoku Band have been confirmed to reprise their roles. Mamo Mamono will return as the socially anxious guitarist Hitori Gotoh, alongside Miki Otake as the energetic drummer Nijika Ijichi. The band is completed by Karin Osanai, who returns as the cool bassist Ryo Yamada, and Mirai Ohmori, reprising the role of charismatic vocalist Ikuyo Kita.

Since its successful premiere in August 2023, the BOCCHI THE ROCK! stage play has garnered significant critical and audience praise. The production has been noted for its faithful and dynamic interpretation of the source material, effectively blending genuine character development, drama, and live musical performances. The initial success led to a rapid return in September 2024, which featured both a re-performance, "Part I Starry," and a sequel, "Part II Shuka Festival."
Despite minor operational challenges, including health-related cancellations during previous runs, audience enthusiasm remained high, resulting in consistently sold-out performances. This underscores the substantial demand for high-quality live adaptations of this property. The upcoming "2026 RE:boot" is positioned as a rejuvenated celebration of the BOCCHI THE ROCK! phenomenon. This installment is expected to re-engage audiences with Kessoku Band’s narrative arc, potentially incorporating new theatrical elements while meticulously preserving the authenticity and appeal that established the series as a cultural touchstone.
The continued expansion of the property across manga, anime, and successful live theater productions exemplifies the vibrant multimedia landscape of contemporary Japanese popular culture. As Hitori Gotoh’s progression from extreme shyness to musical prominence continues to resonate globally, fans anticipate witnessing the band’s performances live on stage in February 2026.
