The return of Blue Box is officially locked in for Fall 2026. The confirmation dropped during the Jump Festa 2026 Sunday stage presentation, setting the premiere for October 2026 on TBS.
To mark the announcement, the staff released a fresh "blue visual" drawn by artist Rei Katō. This renewal follows the successful run of the first season, which aired across two full cours starting in October 2024 and streamed internationally on Netflix.
The core production team from the debut season is returning. Director Yūichirō Yano is back leading the production, with Yūko Kakihara handling series composition and Miho Tanino on character designs. Crucially, Telecom Animation Film, the studio behind the well-received first season, is retaining animation duties.

The team confirmed that work on Season 2 began immediately after the first season concluded earlier this year. The previous season wrapped up covering the material leading into the Autumn Training Camp arc, meaning substantial manga content from Kōji Miura’s original work is ready for adaptation. The manga has been running in Weekly Shonen Jump since April 2021.
The main voice cast, including Shōya Chiba as Taiki Inomata and Reina Ueda as Chinatsu Kano, is expected to reprise their roles. The series focuses on badminton player Taiki Inomata and his complicated feelings for the older basketball player, Chinatsu Kano, both attending Eimei Junior and Senior High.
In related news, an exhibition event tied to the series is scheduled to run in Osaka from March 7 through April 5, 2026.
