ATARASHII GAKKO! Drops Theme Song MV for Kawamori's Smartphone Horror Film 'Labyrinth'

Japanese group ATARASHII GAKKO! has dropped the music video for 'Sailor, Sail On,' the official theme song for the upcoming anime feature, Labyrinth. The MV release arrives just days before the film’s scheduled January 1, 2026 premiere in Japanese theaters.
The feature is directed by Macross veteran Shōji Kawamori. Labyrinth centers on high school student Shiori Maezawa, who finds herself trapped inside a parallel version of Yokohama contained within her broken smartphone. While she is stuck in the digital maze, a much bolder alter-ego named SHIORI@Revolution begins taking over her real life, forcing Shiori to fight her way out before the chaos becomes irreversible.
Group member SUZUKA handles the vocal work for the theme song and is also voicing both Shiori Maezawa and SHIORI@Revolution, directly tying her performance into the narrative. Composer yonkey, who previously worked on ATARASHII GAKKO!'s hit 'Otona Blue,' is confirmed to be handling the entire score for Labyrinth.
The new MV follows the main trailer released in October, which first previewed the track and revealed key production details. Risa Ebata is handling character designs, and Taichi Hashimoto is writing the script. Animation production is being handled by Sanzigen.

The confirmed voice cast includes Show Hayami as Shiori’s father, Maaya Sakamoto as the mother, and Tomokazu Sugita as Tōsaka. Gaga is distributing the film, with Slow Curve managing general production.
Kawamori has described Labyrinth as pop entertainment that blends song elements with horror, drawing inspiration from the concept of smartphones acting as an 'another self.' ATARASHII GAKKO! is adding significant buzz to the promotion, riding momentum from global tours and recent performances, including LA's Matsuri '25 alongside acts like Yoasobi and Ado.
