ABC Animation has confirmed the establishment of a new subsidiary in Shanghai, China, designed to take direct control of its rapidly expanding anime business in the region. The move allows the Asahi Broadcasting Group Holdings subsidiary to manage event operations, merchandise sales, and licensing directly, bypassing third-party intermediaries in the massive Chinese market.
The new entity, Aimanxi (Shanghai) Cultural Media Co., Ltd., was registered in January 2026. This strategic step comes as ABC Animation approaches its 10th anniversary in 2026, marking a significant milestone in the group's global growth strategy.
The subsidiary is already kicking off its activities with a major promotion for Violet Evergarden. The promotion features a pop-up store running from March 13 to 29 at Jing’an Joy City in Shanghai.
Fans can expect a wide array of character goods there, including plush toys and acrylic stands, at the popular mall known for hosting anime and gaming events.
ABC Animation oversees IP management and production, owning studios such as SILVER LINK., Zero G Act, and CGCG Studio. With demand for Japanese anime merchandise remaining strong in China, the Osaka-headquartered parent group is positioning itself to capture a larger share of overseas revenue by managing operations directly.
