Overview
'The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace' is set in a world where humanity once faced extinction at the hands of monstrous demons. Salvation came in the form of the Idaten, god-like warriors created to defeat the demons and bring peace to the world. Fast forward 800 years, and the current generation of Idaten has never known war, living carefree lives under the guidance of Rin, the sole surviving original Idaten. However, their tranquil existence is shattered when the Zoble Empire revives the ancient demons, forcing these inexperienced gods to confront their deadliest foes. With its mix of intense action, dark themes, and philosophical undertones, the series explores the complexities of duty, sacrifice, and the blurred line between protector and destroyer.
Opinion
'The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace' stands out as a bold and visually striking anime that blends over-the-top action with thought-provoking storytelling. Directed by Seimei Kidokoro and animated by Studio MAPPA, the series captivates viewers with its dynamic fight sequences and vibrant art style, which perfectly complement its darker, nihilistic tone. The characters, from the misfit Idaten to the menacing demons, are brought to life through stellar voice performances, including Akemi Okamura as Rin and Romi Park as Hayato. While the abrupt ending at episode 11 may leave some viewers unsatisfied, the series makes up for it with its unique blend of violence, humor, and existential dilemmas. Themes of indifference toward humanity and the burden of immortality add depth to the narrative, making it more than just a typical action-fantasy anime. Despite its short runtime, 'The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace' leaves a lasting impression with its raw energy and unforgettable visuals, appealing to fans of edgy, unconventional storytelling.
