Somali and the Forest Spirit anime is set in a world where humans are no longer the dominant race. After a brutal war, humanity was hunted nearly to extinction by "grotesque" beings—spirits, goblins, and other mythical creatures. In a deep, ancient forest, a Golem who serves as the forest's protector finds a young human girl named Somali in chains.

The Golem, who has no emotions and a rapidly approaching "end of life," decides to become her father figure. He disguises her as a minotaur and takes her on a journey across a vibrant, alien world to find any remaining humans before his own time runs out. Their journey is a series of "firsts"—Somali’s first time seeing the ocean, her first friendship, and the Golem's first time understanding the weight of love and the fear of saying goodbye.

The Original Manga

The somali and the forest spirit manga by Yako Gureishi was on a long hiatus and officially ended in 2020 due to the author's health.

The Sequel (2025/2026)

In a major update, the author confirmed they are healthy enough to continue! After completing their work Isekai Kakuriyo, a sequel to Somali is officially in development. English fans can now collect the physical volumes as Titan Manga began releasing the series in late 2024, with Volume 5 arriving in December 2025.

Season 2 Status

There is currently no Somali and the Forest Spirit Season 2 announced. However, with the manga being licensed internationally and a sequel confirmed, interest in a continuation is at an all-time high.
